What personal information do I collect from people that visit my blog and why?
Name or username, email address, IP address and website URL. I also collect non identifiable data such as browser information in order for me to see my website statistics. I use your data to run my site efficiently and to personalise user experience.
How do I protect your information?
I never ask for credit card numbers or payment details. Your personal information is contained behind secured networks and is only accessible by a limited number of people who have special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential. In addition, all information you supply is encrypted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology. I implement a variety of security measures when a user enters or submits their information to maintain the safety of your personal information.
These cookies and the information they collect help improve this site for yourself and future visitors by monitoring traffic of users and success of particular content. You can choose to have your computer warn you each time a cookie is being sent, or you can choose to turn off all cookies. You do this through your browser settings.
Embedded content from other websites
Third Party Plug Ins
This site uses Google Analytics to collect information such as details of traffic and visitor behaviour patterns. I also occasionally check my stats on WordPress. You can opt out by using the Google Analytics Opt Out Browser add on. Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
Website back up
I back up my website regularly including all comments and personal data attached.
Do I share data?
I do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your Personally Identifiable Information unless required to do so by law or for giveaways where I collaborate with a brand. An example of this is choosing a winner and me needing to pass on the winner information to the brand in order for you to claim your prize. By entering any giveaway or entering such information, you are agreeing to the terms therefore if you aren’t happy with this don’t enter giveaways. If a giveaway is collaborated with a brand I will clearly state this. If I am hosting a giveaway on my social media platforms I may ask the visitor to leave a comment on my latest blogpost for an additional entry. The social media handle’s of all entrants are collected and saved until a winner is chosen at random via a random name generator. The winner will be contacted on social media and have 48 hours to respond to claim their prize. Once contacted and the prize has been sent out all personal information is deleted. If you are not happy with any terms of social media giveaways do not enter.
How long do I retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. For users that register on my website (if any) the personal information you provide is in your user profile. All users can see, edit or delete their personal information at all times except usernames.
What rights you have over your data
If you have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I’m obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
